TRA IS FOR EVERYONE

Mike Nielsen, of Treynor, is a member of the Board of Directors of the Treynor Recreational Association (TRA). This is a for-profit corporation created over forty years ago to purchase land to provide recreation opportunity in Treynor. The community was involved in creating a nine-hole golf course and constructing a swimming pool. While the golf course is the main feature of TRA and attracts golfers from beyond Treynor, the swimming pool has been a summer activity focus for Treynor youth each year. Mike explained that the pool facility is at the end of its life expectancy. He thanked Club members for their efforts with others of the Treynor community to get the pool in shape to open this year. Mike also recognized the City of Treynor for donating the 300 thousand gallons of water to fill the pool for this season. The pool does not generate enough funds from user fees to pay for replacement of expensive pump and filter systems. Each year the pool cost TRA to keep it running. So, if something major fails, it would have to be closed until funds could be raised. Mike explained there is a TRA membership fee structure for seasonal use of the golf course and pool. But the public is invited on a fee-per-use basis to use either of the facilities. You can get a seasonal pool use permit separate from the golf course.
